This photograph was taken in Egypt, Sharm el-Sheikh.
I was first drawn to the frame in my hand because of the photograph in it; a comrade had pointed to it, believing that I was the lady in the picture. It was a rear-view photograph, and even I had thought it was me for some seconds! Perhaps that is because of the hairstyle and body frame of the lady, both of which seem quite similar to mine. The African print fabric is also very much in sync with my usual fashion style.
I picked up the frame and the message in the quote caught my attention at once: “We must invest in the future. Everything that humanity can imagine, we can create”. I sighed deeply.
When I got back to my hotel, I continued to ruminate over these words, and each time I did, their potency became even weightier on my mind.
Imagination is a strong force in human existence. No wonder it is said that “You are only as limited as the limit of your imagination”.
It is sad just how often we are limited by our minds. The fact that something has never been done does not mean it can not be done, and we must remind ourselves of this more often, individually and collectively.
This reminder is important because it also determines how much investment we are willing to make in what seems abstract, but going by the message in this frame, if we do not break these mind barriers, we will continue to shortchange the future.
A decent investment in a future we cannot physically see yet can only be propelled by our ability to nurture an imagination of that future, and by imagining it, we give it life.
So here is the question: when you imagine the future, what do you see?
Note that you are the owner of your imagination and you are at liberty to create ANYTHING. So again, I ask, what do you see?
Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday.
