At St. Theresa's IDP camp in Yola, Northeast Nigeria, It gave me mixed feelings of pain and pleasure to reunite with these wonderful people, some of whom I had formed a bond with in 2014, when I first visited Adamawa, in the heat of insurgency.
I happily joined in preparing leaves to make Maringa soup for lunch. Even though my plucking skill was sloppy in comparison to that of these skilled women, I totally enjoined my participation. We shared laughter, we shared emotions, we shared communication and language was no barrier!

At St. Theresa's IDP camp in Yola, Northeast Nigeria, it was a mix of emotions to reunite with what had grown into a community of people; a people displaced from their homes and lives by Boko haram terrorists.

Aderonke’s offerings and undertakings include climate justice campaigns, resistance building against corporate capture of water, policy and legislative advocacy, design thinking, community mobilisation, training, facilitation, and capacity building for social justice and participatory development.

The needs-legislative advocacies and campaigns I undertook with my team at the Justice Development and Peace Commission brought about significant outcomes such as the enactment of the non-custodial Community Service Law of Oyo State as an alternative to incarceration, for simple offences and misdemeanors. Other reforms included the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, the Violence against Women Prohibition Law, and the prohibition of land grabbing by legislation.
Designing and organising youth groups and young activists towards resilience building and participatory governance through collective actions. This includes co-designing "The Youth Action Lab', a one year co-creation lab for grassroots youth activists based in the global south which works to support their movements to become more resilient and sustainable in their pursuit of a more equitable world.
My environmental activism is centered around climate justice and the human right to water. I work with communities and passionate networks of water justice campaigners and climate activists to fight for water justice in all its manifestations. From pushing back against corporate capture of water, to simply insisting on the availability, accessibility and affordability of water to communities in basic decent forms, we galvanise actions across the board. Similarly, my climate work revolves around communities at the frontline of extractive injustices and oppressive climate regimes in core areas of mitigation, Loss and damage and just energy transition to guard against energy poverty among women in grassroots communities.
I facilitate trainings for Youth Development Programmes to strengthen inclusive development and participatory democracy.
I work with pro-people individuals, groups, organisations and networks around the world to facilitate positive systemic changes through power building and challenging systemic oppression.
