Lawyer, Activist, Campaigner, development facilitator

I was born during the oppressive military era in Nigeria, with early childhood experiences of oppression, exclusion and first-hand brazen violations of Human Rights.
I knew from early on that I wanted to fight for opposite realities and engage actively in the defence of human rights and public interests. That passion led me into what has now become my life- activism, human rights advocacy and campaigning for social and environmental justice.
As a lawyer, my legal practice is rooted in public intrest litigation, environmental rights and gender justice.
I also organise directly with grassroots communities and women towards participatory development, as I am particular about systemic inclusion.
My mission is to utilize my expertise and deep connection to causes of justice to contribute to systemic changes and overall societal development.
In 2019, I founded Help Initiative for Social Justice and Humanitarian Development, a non-profit committed to equipping and supporting citizens to stand up for their rights and effectively engage the system towards accountability, inclusive governance and political change.
My first degree is a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Benin in Nigeria, where I graduated in 2007.
I learned the spirit of the Law at the Nigerian Law School, after which I was called to the Bar (BL) as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2008. (BL).
In my early years as a young counsel interested in Public interest, I sharpened my skill for mediatory services at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) where studied Conflict and Peace Building in 2012.
In 2019, I was named a Young Global Changer by Global Solutions in Berlin, Germany, for my community-building work with women in local communities of Nigeria.
I proceeded afterwards, to curate a safe space for women and a handholding community of support for young people, both of which are now programmes under the Help Initiative for Social Justice and Humanitarian Development.

My journey
Over the years, I have become a seasoned facilitator and trainer on Development and topical issues of human rights, campaigns and advocacy. I have consistently devoted space to youth mentoring and movement building with a determination to promote public interest.
In 2019, I joined the Environmental Rights Action/ Friends of the Earth Nigeria, now Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa, CAPPA, where I was an Associate Director, campaigning for human rights to water and climate justice until 2025. Alongside my team at CAPPA, I mobilised communities across Africa in the “Our Water Our Right” movement and the Global Campaign to Demand Climate Justice.
Ahead of that journey, I led the Community Service Programme team at the Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), Ibadan, where some of my legislative advocacy efforts led to the enactment of “Community Service Law” in 2015, Violation against Women (VAW) Prohibition Law, Anti-kidnapping Law, Land grabbing prohibition Law and the Administration of Criminal Justice Law, 2016. Most of those successful advocacy interventions were geared towards criminal justice reform and the promotion of systemic social justice.
